Summer has arrived here in the Northeast and with it we are finally able to enjoy hot sunny days and garden fresh herbs (soon, we’ll be harvesting veggies too!). On a recent hot day, I was delighted to see that the mint in my herb garden was already flourishing and I was eager to start enjoying it. After doing some searches for drink recipes that would incorporate some of our Pear Brandy, I found several Brandy Slush recipes, but nothing that would help me with my desire to use mint from my garden. So, that meant I would have to get a bit creative. So, using the formula for brandy slush, I combined some of the ingredients of Brandy Slush with ingredients from Mint Mojitos. The outcome, was nothing less than delightful. Naturally, I just had to share this with the world! So, here it is, the recipe for Pear Brandy Mojito Slush.
Please know that this is not a cocktail that can be whipped up for immediate enjoyment, but it is well worth the 3 day wait and perfect for that family gathering that you have scheduled for this weekend.
2 cans Frozen Limeade
2 cups Tree Spirits Pear Brandy
4 Bags Green Tea
2 cups of Sugar
Crushed Mint (to taste)
Step 1: Steep tea bags in 2 cups of water. Let cool.
Step 2: Boil 7 cups of water and stir in 2 cups of sugar until dissolved. Let cool.
Step 3: Mix tea, sugar water, 2 cans of frozen limeade, brandy and crushed mint. Put in the freezer. Stir once a day for 3 days.
Step 4: Serve it up! Fill your glass 2/3 full with the slush mixture, then top it off with ginger ale (or other soda of your choice). Garnish with sprig of mint.
I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!
